About Sharon Flanagain:
Born in Dallas; lived there till age 11. Moved to a small town in East Texas; left there upon graduating high school to attend the University of North Texas in Denton. Yearbook editor in high school. Year book editor in college (a paying job); campus radio station's news director (another paying college job). Graduated UNT with journalism (broadcast news) degree. Wanted to use print and broadcast experience, so leaned toward corporate/organization communications. Worked for Texas Dept. of Agriculture doing cooking demos, media articles/press releases to promote Texas produce. Left to head PR efforts of major engineering firm. Five-and-a-half years ago, took the self-employment route. The company, called Cinnabarr, is multi-faceted. One side of the business is devoted to consulting on and writing/editing medical and technical grants. The other side is catering, teaching cooking classes, writing culinary food columns, newsletters and FoodNotes. Traveled extensively in Southeast Asia (Vietnam, Thailand and Singapore).
